City Council

Michael “Mike” Cave was first elected to Quesnel City Council in 2008, receiving 1,651 votes. He served on Council until 2014.

West Quesnel Land Stability

Served as Chair of the West Quesnel Land Stability Advisory Committee. During his tenure, the City was working on monitoring, de-watering and obtaining government funding for the land-stability problem affecting West Quesnel residents.

Environment

Served as Chair of the Environmental Advisory Committee, represented Council on the Quesnel Airshed Roundtable, and held Council’s Environment portfolio.

Financial Oversight

Served as a Council representative on the City’s Audit Committee.

Affordable Housing

By 2013, Cave was Council’s Portfolio Holder for Affordable Housing and was identified in that capacity in the City’s Affordable Housing Strategy.

Community Service Through Council

At the end of his Council service in 2014, incoming Council members publicly thanked Cave for his service. Then-MLA Coralee Oakes specifically recognized his dedication as a councillor and his work on environmental committee assignments.

2026 Election

Michael Cave is listed among the candidates for Quesnel City Council in the 2026 election, seeking to return to municipal office after his previous Council service.
